Whatever happened to the Liberal Democrats from coalition to hovering up the supposed lost centre ground to infights over gay marriage religion and leaderships, and now expenses.

Cable 'too good' for Bad Sex book award

It's hardly surprising his fiction is too good, he's been, sadly, spinning the yarn that the Lib Dems are anything but an inconsequential party.

Tim Farron: I regret 'gay sex no sin' statement - Farron regrets saying gay sex not a sin

SteakAndCake Publish time 26-11-2019 00:18:03

I don't understand why he didn't just say, "Yes, as many Christians believe,I believe that gay sex is a sin, but as a Liberal Democrat I am able to put my personal beliefs to the side and work hard to protect and promote gay rights for everyone in this country."

That would have satisfied his personal conflict, his church, and Liberal Democrats who understand that liberalism is live and let live not imposing your personal beliefs on others.

I'm an atheist. I don't believe in sin.I don't believe gay sex is wrong and I don't have a problem with Tim thinking it is as long as he works tirelessly to promote Liberalism allowing everyone to believe whatever manner of bull-shine they choose to believe and gay people aren't treated any differently to straight people by the state.

I don't want an ideologue, somebody who can't see past their beliefs but I also don't want somebody who needs to lie to himself to do his job.I don't think Tim's views are incompatible with Liberalism at all, but he totally failed to communicate the values or Liberalism in this instance and it would have made a great example to use.

My thinking as well. Be honest.

A little while ago there was this.

Rees-Mogg 'completely opposed' to abortion

Now you know his position. Up to you if it will affect your vote for him.

SteakAndCake Publish time 26-11-2019 00:18:05

He's a muppet of the highest order but his point is correct.

The issue I have with Mogg is that the article did not make it clear is how he would vote on issues like abortion. He doesn't have to like abortion, he doesn't have to let his wife have an abortion but he shouldn't stop other woman from choosing them if they wish.

He gives a wishy washy statement about the UK's abortion laws not changing.Good, but it's still not clear which way he would vote despite his personal feelings.
