My search for the elusive perfect combined Sat Nav/Dash Cam

My biggest surprise in this field is that we have not seen manufacturers have them installed into cars as standard. My car has a forward facing camera already for things like traffic signs (can also see lane lines etc.) so would not seem like a lot of work to have it linked to a built in recording system to use as a dashcam. A lot of cars also have rear facing camera for reversing that could also be attached to the system. The extra bits needed to make it an inbuilt dash cam would cost peanuts but they could easily slap a £300 or so option price on it and a lot of people would go for it due to it being easier than installing one themselves.

My father's 2017 Ford Edge has all that;
The rear (reversing) camera automatically displays on the head-unit when reversing - this is standard on the range because it is or will be compulsory equipment.
The optional forward camera requires the optional Sony head-unit (two camera inputs).
Both cameras are very wide angle (the fron one. Is designed for nose-out-at-junctions so has 2 zoom settings, forward parking and sideways views) so neither camera is really suitable for reading number plates or identifying other road users. I suspect they aren't HD either.
The Ford and Sony head-units might run Android under-the-hood, but are closed to user apps since they are tied into car functions like the heater, settings for lane following etc, processes which if hacked or interfered wirh could end in serious consequences.
I actually dislike (to an extent) how this is alk integrated, I'm much more comfortable with my own 2000-model with descrete removeable 'radio' unit, removeable windscreen dashcam and removeable sat-nav. But of course, comining satnav and dashcam doesn't compromise the vehicle systems and there are Chinese units available, some which mount onto the rearview mirror within driver's natural view.

That is possible with systems that overlay the satnav information over a "worldview" realtime image from a camera, doing away with the need for split screen.  I've not seen one in action mind you, and I'm not sure if I'd like the concept.

he has a couple of things not quite right in the vid such as you can use one button for both cameras and it's the DDpai Mini 1 that pairs which he doesn't mention it's something to do with the chipsets they use
