I think they do a student discount option for £52.50 a month otherwise it's £65 a month at my local club in the northwest, showed me a list
Of about 30 or so large organisations that if you work for them you get an extra discount. £88 would be to account for the extra cost of living in the south which makes sense with land prices too, if you pay a years membership upfront you get a 5% discount, access to tennis courts about £10 a month extra, well worth the money imo all clubs have outdoor and indoor pools.

We used to be members at Solihull. We had a family membership for 2 adults and 2 kids 11 & 12 at the time. Originally my wife wanted to join and it was going to work out at about 90 per month for her with The tennis option. In the end we settled on a family membership which I think was either £90 or £120 per month. We didn't have acces to tennis which was fine but strangely the kids did so they could book courts and play.

Whilst it might sound expensive (it would to me) we'd actually spent about 2 months going swimming to our council owned swimming pool 3 times a week and that used to cost a little under £10 a time. A comparable amount.

At DL we had access to plenty of gym equipment, swimming with an outdoor pool, jacuzzi, steam room, gym classes, the DL kids zone where they would provide activities for the kids for an hour whilst we used the gym, squash and racket ball. It really wasn't a chore when going although using the bar area for food and drinks usually racked up extra spend. After moving house last year our nearest DL is at least a 30 minute drive so unfortunately we cancelled our membership but I wouldn't hesitate to re-join as I felt it was good value for money.

Wife just told me it was about £110 per month (with a Corporate discount as she worked for a major employer)

Aye it's a good gym. Really enjoying my tennis at the minute. Been taking some of the lessons with the coaches, both of whom are excellent at teaching the game to beginners like myself. Got a tennis competition at the gym on Sunday. Going to have to practice my serves before then!

I'm toying with the idea of lessons. But no time between work, family, gym, cardio, swimming etc etc

In our gym they have these fast track and on track lessons which are about an hour long. Not too draining or taxing either. They're spread across the morning, afternoon and evening so there's always one that suits your schedule. If they do the same lessons at your gym it might be worth going along when it suits you. One lady even brought her toddler son with her. A bit dangerous with tennis balls flying around but to be fair to the lad he was a wee gent - didn't make a peep or want attention from his mum, just sat there watching us all play. Think he even threw one or two balls back on to the court whenever they went in his general direction!

Is there an additional per hour charge for tennis court time too Stockholm? Been looking to take up tennis for a while, had been considering Newlands but at £11 p/h peak, it could soon add up!

Think it depends on your membership. I have the middle one that entitles you to use the tennis courts and golf course free of charge. Still need to book the court, though. Good courts with a good spread of lessons for all levels available.

I tried the driving range for the first time over the Christmas holidays and it was excellent fun. £5 for 50 balls (even for members) and they have targets set up at various distances along the length of the range. I haven't played golf in a long time so was expecting to be terrible but the person I was playing with plays golf (proper golf!) and gave me a quick refresher. Managed to get the hang of it within 25 balls, more or less. Thinking of taking it up now as it's great fun whacking the ball for all you've got!

The golf course there is excellent too. My sister's partner is from London and plays down there, so he couldn't believe that the green fees were so cheap (£13) or that the course wasn't tended to by a greenkeeper from a prestigious golf club as the greens are in excellent condition. And then there are the views of Glasgow from the top of the course's hills! An unforgiving course for beginners apparently!

Thanks for the info - yeah, I've played it a few times in the past (when it was Deacies!), not sure if they've rejigged it any since the takeover. Was never renowned as being a great course, but fine for a little pootle about

Like you, I used to be a member at Greens - dropped down to a cheaper one in Thornliebank after work/family commitments meant I couldn't train as much, but considering DL. A mate of mine just joined but he's ~£220 a month for him and the Mrs!

We're £175 per month for a couple and 2 kids at Rouken Glen.

£50 each per adult and £25 for spa access. Then £25 per child over 3. We got a pre launch price so not sure what the actual going rate is.

I was in bannatynes before and this is a word apart. Great classes, with brilliant times from morning to evening and kids classes.

Never spent so much time in a gym before. Just finished the sufferfest 9 day tour which I'd never have managed before joining
