Sorry to hijack the thread, but i have a quick question.

I have started a new gym (going 3 times a week) and also started to eat clean. But after weighing myself after 3 weeks, i have only lost 2lbs. But my clothes are feeling loose now. Should i be concerned that i am not losing weight?

I wouldn't worry too much about the weight - depends on your current weight (what is it if you don't mind me asking?) - but long as you look better as this is usually a better indicator...

while we like to think you've replaced fat with muscle - I'm not sure there's be much in 3 weeks...

No! The weight doesn't matter at all.

What matters is the way the weight is made up, how you feel and how you look.

I've been plugging away at this for some time now as I stated with wanting to get fit and lose fat.

The only thing that has changed is I am now better able to make decisions on how to achieve my goals and make my goals more specific and my training more specific to my goals.

Some people just turn up to the gym and never break a sweat. Spend half an hour posing, checking their phone, drinking water from a bottle and buggering off.

You could try running. It's a good way of losing weight if done regularly.

Watch for 'secret' eating. It's so easy to be eating stuff you know you shouldn't, but almost hide from yourself. We all do it. Bits throughout the day add up.

And your body shape will change for sure. Slowly and takes considerable dedication, but it will. Three weeks is nothing.

And remember, you may have put on two pounds, so losing it is significant.

Thanks for the help guys.

According to my polar heart rate monitor I'm burning just over 1000 calories a session, so around 3000 calories a week. (usually average 3 sessions a week)

When i usually start going to the gym again, the first few lbs usually fly off, but this time it seems a much smaller loss.

I am currently 6ft and 216lbs. I actually joined a new gym 3 weeks ago which is focused around classes, instead of being a traditional gym, because i kept on loosing motivation to go the gym by myself before.

It can make a significant difference when you weigh yourself. You weigh more last thing at night than first thing in the morning for example. Try to be consistent.

I don't think the heart rate monitors are considered very accurate, so take that with a pinch of salt. But you're there and doing it, so it can only go one way if you maintain a sensible diet.

I tend to maintain a fairly constant weight now. It's too heavy, but I only spend about three hour sessions a week too. I have a desk job and work from home, so it's easy to sit all day. I need to do more I think. Maybe you can too? Just don't injure yourself.
