Thanks!

We just had a bit of situation here. He uses my tablet until he gets his own. It's a some kind of Samsung tablet, I don't even know what it is really. It's ancient and I only use it to display clock and PC temps on my desk. Anyway, as this thing is so slow and unresponsive sometimes, he just had a tantrum and started hitting it with his fists really hard. I'm surprised the thing still works.

Anyway, it got me thinking. Is there a point buying an expensive tablet for a 7yo. Maybe instead of buying him something to last, I should just buy him something disposable... and no, I don't mean Amazon tablet. That's just plain nasty. But maybe a cheaper Android tablet. Maybe that Tab A will be enough.

When my son was 7 we bought him a cheap lenovo to see how he got on with it, was £49.99 for an 8" on a black friday deal at Argos.

Still works fine now not that he uses it.

Last year we upgraded him to a 10" tablet with keyboard linx 1010b cost £97.99 still working well although it is windows 10 uses it every day.

He finds using my android phone pleasant for apps etc so thinking about making the switch to this

I'm not a bit fan of Currys / PC world, but went on and ordered it for collection (it's not available for delivery) and regretted it instantly. On the page before ordering it says it will have to be collected from the store starting from Saturday to the next working day (so Sunday), which would be perfect as I cannot get there until Sunday morning (it's 20 miles away), but when I actually ordered it said reservation is only active until Saturday evening. There is no way to cancel it or modify the order in any way too. I will have to give them a phone tomorrow.

The good old "Currys / PC World". Every time I buy something from them it is like a mini adventure.

15 min on hold before talking to someone, then I was told I need to speak to the actual store, another 5 min on hold, then I was told, by not a very nice guy who clearly didn't have time for this, that reservation cannot be extended and I need to re-reserve if I want to pick it up tomorrow. It's just like they don't want my money.

Yeah, using them was definitely a mistake.

Went to re-reserve it online, but the store is no longer an option to pick for to collect from. Called them again, 20 min on hold this time. First person told me quickly they cannot help me and transferred me to "retail section", I was assured I won't be on hold as "I will just be put through". Another 10 min on hold. I was losing my patience by that time. A guy, who was quite nice and apologetic I must admit, apologised by he wasn't sure why I was transferred to him as he cannot cancel or modify reservations. It like a bad joke this. So I just said, look I will just order it for delivery instead. I would have actually order it for delivery yesterday, as I prefer that than driving 20 miles to pick it up, but yesterday it wasn't an option. Only click and collect was available, today delivery is available somehow.

Anyway, ordered it for delivery.
