Thank you. I'm looking forward to having it all done and dusted and being able to use it as it was intended (figers crossed)

So after almost 2 weeks of waiting, I had the engineer visit today. He just left... without fixing it.

He took it apart, opened the box with the spare part and inside was... a screen. Started checking papers and it appears he has picked up the wrong part from the depot.

He is trying to get to the depot now and said that if it is still open he will be back today. But it's Friday, rush hour, the depot is 20 miles away, so I'm not holding my breath.

To say I'm disappointed is an understatement.

EDIT: What's also worrying is that when I described what's wrong with it, first thing he said was "motherboard heat sensor". He thought he has a new motherboard in the box. While I was told by Dell, that he is coming to replace the fan. Which obviously won't fix anything.

I would have opened the box at the depot since I am certain thst this won't have been the first such cockup he's had with incorrect parts....

To his credit, he has come back and just left not long ago. He has replaced the fan for a more powerful (and quieter) one. I'm just stress testing it, but it seems so much better. CPU under 100% stress and it stays around 60-70C. Obviously this is just an artificial test, I need to see how it is going to perform in Photoshop again, but so far so good.

Looking good Just tested in Photoshop for 25 min and it didn't even break a sweat. Just as it should. Staying between 60 and 70, occasionally jumping to high 70s. It will have to wait a couple of weeks until I can do a full edit on it, but I reckon it is fixed
