One other thing,  Do not skimp on Gloves!!! Good ones are expensive but they'll keep you warm and dry. Cold wet hands are the worst thing. Don't forget about a helmet either!

merino base layers etc from lidl/aldi are as good as any and merino doesnt stink like the helly hansen (smelly helly) types do after a week. and keep an eye out in tkmaxx lots of bargains to be had there too.
and if you can get 2 pair of everything except a jacket (as you`ll be wearing it to travel) and split the packing between the two of you - so each bag has a set for you and your other half - incase a bag goes missing - you do not want to be buying ski gear in the resort!
also google ski checklist as there will be lots of stuff you dont think of that you will need.
