If you are looking for good film noir, this is not it. The dialog is silly, the plot illogical. It looks like someone tried to imitate Fellini in a crime film. Don't be misled by the high ratings you see here, they are the result of people who have been brainwashed into believing they saw a quality film by the hype from the critics and Hollywood insiders.

Some examples of the bad writing.

1) When the criminals broke into the building and took the guard hostage, it was not necessary to torture him since they were going to search the building anyway.

2) We know the guard had keys to all the doors because he locked the killer in, so the hoods could have used his keys rather than break down the doors.

3) The mob boss should have been in control of the mob so that he didn't have to resort to trickery to keep them from killing the murderer.

4) The little girl did not cry out for help even once, even though she was dragged through the streets, carried like a sack of flour, held hostage, and even had her mouth covered to keep her quiet. All frightening things that should have made her cry out.

5) At the beginning of the film the people on the street were beating up innocent victims just because their behavior seemed even slightly suspicious, but no on even looked twice at a man dragging a little girl, and sometimes carrying her like a sack of flour, through the streets.

There were two crimes associated with this movie. One is that it was made and released in the first place. The second was the time I was robbed of while watching this atrocity.
