"No Time Like Christmas" is not a good movie. This is an early film from Lifetime's 2019 Christmas marathon and several of these early films have been bad. The commonality among them is a feeling that none of these films feel like they have a reason to exist. They are only made to fill a timeslot before Black Friday and rarely shown again, if ever.

That isn't to say all is bad. Kyla Pratt as Emma seems eternally sad which fits her role. She gave up on a relationship and has focused on her advertising career ever since. Her boyfriend, Fletcher (Edward Ruttle) went on to get married and have a daughter. His wife is deceased, of course. The two of them meet in their hometown after a plot gimmick sets them up. Ruttle seems disinterested in this role. He is a handsome man and a total bore.

Fletcher is staging a play and asks Emma to help. There are several scenes of Silent Night being performed in anticipation of this event. These scenes are drawn out because there isn't enough story here to last 90 minutes. Each of their families encourage them to get together. I did enjoy the script's attention to the previous relationship. Each of them is confronted with his or her reluctance to just be honest about feelings. Pratt does a good job here at seeming emotionally withdrawn.

There are a ton of plot holes and ended plot threads. Fletcher says he has never stopped loving Emma even though he was married. What an odd thing to say in front of his daughter! My favorite one is the snowstorm at the end of the movie that stops whichever character from attending the play who needs to not be there. Fletcher's star actress flirts with him during the practice of the play but is still super loyal to her boyfriend whom we never see.

From the generic title to it boring plot, there is just nothing here of interest.

score 1/10
