I used to enjoy this show - but I have gone off it for easily 2 years ago, and in fact went off Beyblades entirely because of this. The characters are pretty flat and dull, the animation rather sketchy (though I'm sure this was intended), it is very predictable and pretty sad, and is really just childish. Kai is a real show-off d***head - why do Tyson and co. let him be part of their gang when all he tries to do is betray them? The animation does kind of get better in a later series (which tries to be shocking and gripping but falls flat on its face), but this is definitely one best left sitting on the shelves and playing to no viewers at 1 a.m on a lesser-known channel in the morning. The first volume DVD offers a whiff of a bonus feature (in the form of an interactive game), but none of the others do, and to be quite frank, I'm not sure who would want to spend their £15 on four rather sub-par episodes. It is a bit underrated (though the arithmetic mean for it is way higher), but people these days are always cruel and cynical about cartoons for kids, and this one is definitely one at risk from critics. I can clearly see why. 2/10
