We should remember Leach's part, though he ought to have been out twice. Once when somehow Lyon forgot the ball for a run-out and another when he would have been LBW had Australia not wasted that previous review. And as Sir Geoffrey said, Leach ought to be opening the batting as he's better than our openers!

Do we have a substitute opening batsman or will they just swap the order about?
That Roy needs to be replaced or moved down the order.

Just woke up to the result (i'm in Oz) and can't believe it. Although it does sound like we did make hard work of it after being 230 odd for 4 then having a bit of a collapse. What an inning from Stokes to level the series

Surely the greatest test innings of all time?

Absolutely incredible performance (include his bowling in that) - after Bairstow got out he scored 96 of the 114 runs still needed to win.

Have to say though, that Joel Wilson is an incredibly poor umpire. That lbw wasn’t even marginal, it should have been given.

My favourite moment was Lyon costing them the game with his fumble. He’s a mouthy so and so on the field and don’t forget he talked about ‘wanting to end people’s careers’ when England were over there.

Incredible result but England need to really take a fresh look at their Test cricket approach.

67 all out.  Another collapse in the 2nd Innings and, save for utter heroics from 1 guy, it would have been another comfortable defeat.

If Smith is back for the next test then England will start underdogs, imo.

Standards have been pretty poor this series.

Dom Sibley & Zac Crawley are both openers doing well in county cricket.  For the fourth test I would:

Drop Roy and replace with Sibley.
Move Denly to 3.
Root 4.
Drop Buttler and bat Ollie Pope at 5.
Stokes 6.
Bairstow 7.
Drop Woakes for Anderson and move Archer to 8, Broad 9, Leach 10 and Anderson 11.

Goes against the 'don't change a winning team' ethos BUT Roy looks mentally shot, Buttler likewise, and Woakes looks knackered.
