TOTAL CRINGEFEST

Russel Peters is a brilliant comedian. Anupam Kher is a way more brilliant actor, an absolute legend (its shocking they got him to be a part of this show). Now that that's out of the way, lets get to the real nitty gritty. There were way too many stereotypical Indian details they used to make this show, from the damn background music to the damn setting to the damn fake accents and atrocious Hindi dialogue. Nothing was believable because all of the stereotypical details were put into to serve the western audience. It was a TOTAL CRINGEFEST to be honest. I couldn't watch for more than half an hour because, as much as I hate to be critical of the girl speaking in Hindi, (I myself being an American of Indian heritage) it was actually causing me anxiety to hear more of the fake Indian accent and bad Hindi pronunciation AND grammar. Are you kidding me? Even the grammar was bad! Who wrote the Hindi dialogues??... I wonder what stopped them from getting an actual Indian actor to play that role. Because of that, the show loses its authenticity and credibility... Maybe my first impression is misleading me to not give the show another chance, but I could not at all get through another second of the horrible accent and Hindi speaking. I am highly disappointed that the creators did not utilize the true potential this show had. I was hoping for a more truer and un-stereotypical representation of India and its people, but the creators stuck to feeding the western minds with the same old notions. Just unfortunate.
