Tires for Mini JCW

So recently bought a JCW and the tires that are on it are less than adequate tbh. Think I have Falken ZE914 on the front at the moment and at any point if I put any significant pressure on the accelerator the front loses traction.

The car has upgraded Team Dynamic 18” alloys on it. Current tires are 205 40 18.

I have very little knowledge about cars and even more so about tires. Ihave been doing some googling however and would quite like to try Toyo TR-1 however it appears they don’t come in the size for my alloys although I can get them 225 40 18! Can I fit 225 to an alloy that currently has 205’s on it??

apologies if that sounds like a stupid question however when it comes to this stuff I am clueless rather than stupid

TR-1's are sh*te in the wet. I would go Michelin pilot sport 4. Thats what im putting on mine shortly.

If you are in the UK - I'd go for the Yokohama Advan Fleva V701's if I were in your position, but hey, that's just me.

Check the handbook for width, speed rating and load index before ordering.

Alternatively, just go along to your local MINI dealer and ask what they recommend.

The mini dealer put Falken ZE914’s on my car. They are not adequate tbh

Do they still fit runflats as standard on the Works?  I replaced our 2005 JCS with Michelin Cross Climates and the improvement in ride was dramatic.  Expect aggravation if replacing RF with regular tyres from the fitters.
I never had the extra HP of the Works but I don't spin the front wheels unless its wet and I'm really clubfooted.

No sure about the run flats. Guy before me has upgraded the alloys to 18”. Don’t think he has put the run flats on it tbh. I have looked but nothing on the tire mentions anything about run flats and the Falkens on the front aren’t run flats as far as I am aware.

If the previous owner upgraded the wheels then it's unlikely they stuck with runflats as the Mini sites I've read roundly condemn them for performance or comfort.

Is it a works or is it a cooper s with a jcw kit on it..if it's a works the brake calipers will be red along with the trim inside the car...
