Chiefly something like a 120D?

Thinking of moving on my jalopy 318D into something a tad newer (2008-12).

Defo need a USB stick in my next car for my music.  That's the worst thing about the old banger now (that and a heavy clutch).  Not sure when they became standard on BMW's though.

Any thoughts?  Guessing they should be as reliable as my 2l Derv has been for the last 6 months.

Depends what year and if your current 318 has the N47 engine. Personally would never buy a N47 engined BMW ever again, just don't trust them.

My jalopy is a 54 plate so pre dates the N47.

I think the 47 issues were sorted by around 2011..

My GF had a 2010 120i.

Steering / brakes / clutch all super light. I found it a bit cramped on the inside compared to my E90 even though they’re built on the same chassis.

Also, being the 120i, it was sh*t slow.

I have a 125D and it is a rocket! Does 55mpg and touch wood never let me down. For a 218hp chugging diesel it will embarrass a lot of other cars.

We are looking at changing to a bigger car now though with a baby.

I’ve had a couple of N47 engined diesels and wouldn’t get any of the first ones but am not concerned by later ones.

As with all beemers i would recommend getting one with pro nav as with the Bluetooth streaming etc it’s much better than the non nav.
