Looks OK but I would very worried about any diesel that is low mileage as it's likely to have done many short journeys.

That's very low mileage on the Peugeot. It will still feel very tight to drive, but I would factor in a new set of tyres, as they may have sunlight aged - event if they still have a lot of tread on them.

The Polo is the smaller car, as the 308 is supposedly Golf sized, but in reality is somewhere in between.

For your sort of mileage, I think I would go with the 308, as it will be more comfortable, but see which seats feel best to you. You tend to sit "on" VW seats and in Peugoets. The interiors on the Peugeot are not so good, and can look a little tired - even at low mileage.

Check out warranties and what work has been done. Even on 20K, I would expect fluids and the cam belt to have been changed on a car of that age - purely down to aging again.

another quick query guys..

looking at ford focus's... and this is the current model I have (mk1 1.6L)-
2002 Unlisted FORD FOCUS 1.6 i 16v Ghia 5dr for sale for £595 in Waltham Abbey, Essex

and I was looking at this one (mk2 1.6L)-
2008 Silver FORD FOCUS 1.6 Zetec Climate 5dr for sale for £3000 in Ashington, Northumberland

but I've also saw this (mk2 1.8L) -
2008 Blue FORD FOCUS 1.8 Style 5dr for sale for £2990 in Stockton-On-Tees, County Durham

and looking at the specs, the mk2 1.6 is slower than my current by (0-60mph by 1 second) but has better fuel consumption, but the mk2 1.8 seems to be more of a similar spec (despite it being a lot heavier) to the mk1 in terms of acceleration and fuel consumption...

would this indeed be the case in real terms? - when comparing the 2 mk2 focus's it seemed a lot more sensible (I commute 70 miles a day) to get the 1.6 over the 1.8 so I wouldn't be spending more on petrol...but could I end up spending more or less the same as I am now?

just I don't really want to lose performance from what I currently have either (if I was to chose the mk2 1.6)...

I'd be more concerned over spec then engine size coming from a Ghia. I'd take a Zetec over a "poverty" spec Style.

another guy was saying that I'm paying 3k for a car that's done 47k miles, when I can pay over 1K less for a car that's done 60k miles...and he's asking why...I have no answer...
