Another thing to watch out for is the Engine warning light this now becomes a Major fail item from 20th May even if your car passes the emission test. I am a mot tester and the amount of vehicles I see with them on is unreal I think alot of people are going to get a shock at there next mot.

It came on shortly after a private purchase this time last year. Traumatic though that was to my wallet, it gave me faith in my local Kia Dealer. I was dreading putting it through for it's MOT at a Main Dealer, but a major Service, MOT and £20 to cover insurance of the "free" loan car came to £300.  And they washed it, valeted it and put boot polish on the tyres.  Our detailers may be horrified, but I was happy.

How much do you pay for a major service on your toy? plus MOT? plus hire car, plus espresso?

Granted, it may be the most expensive espresso ever...

Most expensive service is about £185, i think but i’d have to dig the receipts out. I know the dealer wants ~£550 for the same service. That is oil change 8 litres of FST, plus air / cabin / oil / fuel filters and the usual checks.

No hire car, no expresso, but i do get to stroke the dog.

Edit: just checked receipts. £120 on oil and filters, plus labour.

No plans on changing my diesel but I was planning on getting it remapped in July when the warranty expires, wonder if that will impact the MOT in some way.

Shouldn’t do as long as you’ve no smoke from the exhaust. Some poor quality remaps can produce excess black smoke.

I used to buy my own oil and leave it in the passenger footwell

The social media pages have been flooded of late with diesel vehicles with mostly a little dashboard light that doesn't cause any problems.....Honest Gov.
