Camskill and tyreleader are also cheap, it cost £10-15 per tyre to get fitted at a local tyre fitter.

The main things to look out for with part-worn tyres is if they’ve been repaired, and if so, if they have been repaired to BSI standards. Also, BSI stipulate that a tyre can only have a maximum of 2 repairs present. Any good tyre shop will ensure the tyres have also been pressure tested. The sidewall of the tyres should give a manufacture date, so as long as it’s within the last couple of years you’ll be fine.

If you buy a car (which probably has second hand tyres on it), you can make an educated guess as to whether they have been looked after. If you buy part worn, they may have come off this:

That bit of rubber is the only thing keeping your car safely on the road. Don't risk your or other road users lives by taking a risk with dodgy tyres. You only need to regret your choice once.

I personally would never touch part worns. You just don't know why they're for sale. Think about it. The vast majority of tyres are bought new and used on one vehicle until the owner considers them unsafe.
They might have been heavily kerbed, badly repaired or anything really. The next time you go down the motorway could be your last.
Far better to have a cheap make with a good tread depth than better rubber with a shallow tread.
My opinion for what it's worth.

Personally would never buy part worns. The one thing you shouldn't scimp on on a car is the tyres. I'd recommend trying to get some uniroyal rain sport 3s. Not too expensive and an excellent tyre. I've used them on all the cards i have owned

What is the actual tyre spec for the car (not necessarily what is on the car at the moment) - as long as you get the size, speed rating and load index right, don't worry about brand.
Just buy new, from a reputable source, have them fitted and inflated correctly and you will have far less worries than buying part-used.
Always buy tyres in pairs for the same axle, unless you are having to replace an almost new tyre - if that is the case only get exactly the same tyre as is being replaced - it will then match the one on the other side give or take a tiny bit of wear.

I don't agree with this, not all tyres are made equal just because there the right spec.

It's worth bearing in mind if the car is a performance model, which will will be driven harder and place the tyres under more stress. Tootling around town and never really exceeding the speed limit in a low powered car doesn't need expensive rubber, but long distances and high acceleration and braking will stress the tyres much more.

Personally, I would not buy part worn as there's too much rubbish around and you often cannot tell how well any repairs have been made. Maybe replace over a couple of months, 1 axle at a time or even buy them on credit over a few months.
