You’ve admitted above in the public domain that you think you are driving an unroadworthy vehicle.

Get it fixed, as I wouldn’t want to be the driver of a vehicle at 25 mph and flakey brakes.

Transit brakes are very expensive to repair or replace...they are a real pain to work on!
Personally, I always turn down brake jobs on Transits...too much aggro!

I agree with the above...it's your brakes, get it fixed!

The worse case scenario is that a pad wears down so far that you press the brake pedal and a pad falls out taking a caliper piston with it, leaving you with no brakes when you really need them!
Yes, I've seen this situation many times over the years, fortunately nobody has been hurt.

I'm half worried that one has already gone already as I heard a bang/snapping noise when braking the one time today. Could be something unrelated, but it sure as heck unnerved me.

I took it straight to the nearest local garage who weren't interested, can't say I blame them as the van was out of action for a week last time as they needed to drill the bolts or something.

It's why I'm going dealership this time around, costs more, but if I get it back after only a couple of days instead of a week plus it will be worth it.

Decide to not risk any unnecessary driving and will instead (slowly) take it straight to the dealership which is just a couple of miles away

Well in a screwed up sort of way I've just got some good news kind of.

Turns out that my brake discs are so corroded (along with virtually every other possible brake and front suspension part) that they need replacing anyway, so the metal on metal braking has made zero difference in that sense.

Always good to find the positive

Not unusual for Transits

Unfortunately the parts are expensive and so is the labour as they are such a difficult job. As i said in an earlier post, I refuse to work on Transit brakes as they are a real pain to work with

Bill is currently at £3000 still engine was redone last year and now the suspension and whole brake system is being replaced I should hopefully get a good few more years out of her.

Did think about replacing the van, but I really don't like the new add blue diesel engines and a petrol version isn't available yet, hopefully in 2 to 3 years time they will start to sell them again in the UK. Prepared to pay the 3k now as it should tie me over to then.
