I have a kia ceed 1.6  tdi.

It's good to know i can bypass the aircon if needed.

Most cars have a mechanical air con pump, so it's the engine that's working harder not the alternator as such. However if they share the same belt then it's likely that all the moving parts turned by that belt are under more strain when there is extra load.

Very true

When my car above in the YouTube video was noisy the nosie did get more obvious when the aircon was on.

Both my alternator pulley and more importantly the belt tensioner we're shot. Not sure what one failed first. But the play in the belt was obvious

All done and was not pricey idler pulley was making the sound also had another belt put on, Cost £85.25
