My dad is getting better at reversing the motorhome onto our drive, he never drives in forwards so that he can exit forwards due to reversing visibility (as evidenced by him demolishing a brick gatepost with the car when reversing in);
I can't remember how long it is since he or I drove in forwards unless it was to line up for maintenance, mum will drive the car in forwards now and leave it for one of us to turn it round by reversing onto the road.

Basically and more towards the red car which has a paved area big enough to turn a Boeing 747 around in, is to reverse in in future which will more than likely remove 99.9999999999999% of accidents like seen in the video.

This won't help with this incident but this could so easily be avoided.
Never drive into your drive, always reverse in and drive out. There are a few good reasons but surely the visibility aspect is enough.
When you must reverse always look where you're going. Sounds like a given but clearly neither of these two drivers were. Yes it's more comfortable using the mirrors but the view from them is restricted.*
It's not nice having to deal with bent cars but it could have been a child. If you didn't see the car you definitely wouldn't have seen a child.

Op, sorry this has happened but I'd imagine the insurance companies would go 50/50.
Both drivers should be embarrassed in my view.

*Yes, there are drivers legally on the road who have spine flexibility issues and there are ways and means to help them but it doesn't sound applicable here.

Agreed.  My wife is abit embarrassed, especially seeing as our Landrover has a rear view camera and enough parking sensors to put the space shuttle to shame!

I thought it might. Saying that, sensors are not infallible and are quiet slow to react in my experience.
Anyway, no one was hurt so my main thought now would be to limit the impact on neighbourly relationships.
I hope 2018 improves for you.

Another vote for 50/50
Which means if the neighbour goes through her insurance it will likely cost her the excess, lose her no claims if it's not protected and will likely mean her insurance will be higher next year, as she has had a claim.
If anything it's probably more her fault, as your wife seems to be on the road first.

Im unsure and as someone has already said id say the insurers will go 50/50 but i don't think there would be any harm in disputing it..whats the worse that they would say..no its being dealt as a 50/50 claim
