I am booking flights, and Ryan Air keep popping up and I wondered if the scare stories are justified?

Where else can I remove those doubts than AVF @D

Used them once to fly from Liverpool to Rome for a long weekend. Once.

They're not "bad", just basic. Extras (choice of seat etc.) need to be paid for and the colour scheme on the plane is horrid but if you want cheap then that's their MO.
Easyjet are better, Jet2 is OK but a wee bit dearer.

12 flights in the last 12 months with Ryanair.  Probably another 30-40 over the last several years.

Nothing wrong with them.  Peeps like to complain  but honestly, if you follow the rules, you get a cheap flight and, most of the time, get there on time!

About the worse thing is they do come round a lot trying to sell (not a hard sell) food, drink etc.

Sub £100 to travel practically anywhere in Europe (there and back) has made an awful lot of people happy over the years.

They carry circa 100 Million passengers every year.  That says it all.

For the price you often pay, they're a great airline, imo.

ive lost count of the amount of times ive flown Ryanair, but its getting close to a hundred.

in all of those flights I have been delayed once, and that was for 30mins coming back from Rome in the days of 1p flights.

if you play by their rules then I cant see why anyone would have an issue with their service

Stick to the rules and you'll be fine. I booked return flights last year to Oslo for £25. For that all I was expecting was a seat on the plane

Again, never had a problem with them. Delayed coming back from Dublin after the plane landing just before we were due to take off crash landed, but I don't think we can blame that one on Ryanair.

Things to be aware of:

They don't honour missed connections as all tickets are sold based on a single hop, not via transfers and connecting flights. If they deposit you too late at the intermediate airport, sorting out your onward flight is your problem.

Take good headphones to drown out the incessant invitations to buy drink, food, duty free, lottery tickets...

Be on time, have your ticket printed, hand luggage the right size or hold luggage pre-paid and you will be fine.

I've never had a problem with them; just make certain you know where the airport is where you are going. Considering it is all short haul to me it is a case of headphones on, close my eyes, and snooze for a few hours.

Take them for what they are and its fine and you'll pay less. Dont get caught out with the extras, plan properly be aware that you get what you pay for and its fine. Used them loads meaning i've been to lots of places i wouldnt have been able to otherwise including for a while our annual summer holiday in France where we flew to Nimes for not that much.

Most issues are from people paying not much and expecting to get service that you would on one of the top notch expensive airlines or taking the michael as they wander on with multiple bags at the last minute and then moan they cant sit together and no where to put their bags.

The latest Ryanair loading practice involves standing stalls and the use of hydraulic rams to squeeze maximum capacity into the aircraft.

The wings are fitted with surplus sale fireworks to aid take off with the weight.

If you have a complaint, don't bother phoning, because when you press to speak to Customer Service, you'll get diverted to the mobile of a tramp on the streets of Dublin.
