I'm considering signing up to Amazon audible, it's not particularly cheap (£7.99 a month) but you can pick any book you want regardless of price. Listening to a book sounds quite appealing as I always have my phone on me.

We use that on car journeys - it's very good but you just have to get past the fact you can only add one book a month for your £8

How do you find it though, apart from the one book issue?

Audible is a really good service with good apps. Would highly recommend it if you are are happy with the price and number of books you get for it.

Keeps the children quiet for hours on our epic road trips

Can't comment on the selection - SWMBO does the selections

Like audiobooks in the car and used to read loads when a kid but with the little spare time I have as a parent its used for gaming and television/films.

My son like most boys his age (7) doesn't like reading but we push as much as we can.

100% - simple, easy to use, quick to get next book, no need to store. Would never go back to a "real" book.

Have 100's books on my Kindle far superior to faffing around with 100's books on the bus for which you'd need a rather large bag which is very heavy and could cause recurring back problems.

Worth noting audible is not like a streaming 'rental' service. For £8 per month you get one credit a month to buy an audio book.  This book is then yours forever regardless of whether you keep subscribing.

I've never looked at the actual costs of the audio books for comparison, but SWMBO tells me the Harry porter books, which we have spent most of our time listing to so far, are £25 or something.

We also listen to audio books from our local library for free via the BorrowBox app.
