I read the Hunger games a while back, and even though they were aimed at young adults, I went ahead and read them anyway, and was so glad I did.  Straight after I too went looking for similar books and found of couple of series that, although not the same sort of story, they come highly recommended by me.

The first was the Maze Runner trilogy by James Dashner which was nearly as good as HG and very enjoyable.  I then read the Gone series of books by Michael Grant and they are absolutely fantastic!

Its a great series, that keeps getting better with each book IMO.  It reminded me of a cross between two Stephen King books "Under the Dome" and "The Stand", with some X-Men thrown in for good measure

I've mentioned these on another thread, but take a look at Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" trilogy (Northern Lights, The Subtle Knife & The Amber Spyglass). I've read them several times, and listened to the audiobooks, and love them.

There's a pretty ordinary film version of Northern Lights called The Golden Compass, but it really doesn't come close to the book, IMO.

I've yet to read the series, I want to read the first one before the film is out, but the series starting with Divergent is suppose to be rather good and Hunger Gamesque.

Divergent (Divergent, Book 1): Amazon.co.uk: Veronica Roth: Books

Currently half way through the second book from the Gone series - Hunger. They are pretty good. Not as good as the  Hunger Games, but an enjoyable read.
