I always used to run out of fingers, I'd have fingers placed in various page numbers. I never once even attempted to play it properly, I just couldn't comprehend how you could be lucky enough with your initial skill rolls, lucky enough to get through all the fights and then be lucky enough to choose the right directions each time. Surely it would take fifty attempts to make it through legit. Heck some books I couldn't even get through by cheating, I remember one (House of Hell, Hell House something like that) I always seemed to end up on this page where every damn option lead to death.
