Most you've spent on a book ?

I know comic collectors who do the same, just they seem to write an essay on theirs upon arrival, sometimes even a full case study!
It's quite amazing how people can write up so much on things sometimes, but when you really care about a subject that is part of the enjoyment.
Interesting notes though mate!

It's very satisfying when you find just what you've been searching for. And with a bit of luck, the right book can be a great investment if it holds its value (though that's a bonus, not the main reason for buying them I should add!)

LOL dont get me started on my comic collection. I think I still have my 6x4"" card index with all the notes written in them...I may have to dig them out tonight (the indexes, not the comics, I think I have around 15 white comic boxes or more full, not including the mass amounts of 2000AD, and old Dandy and Beanos I have stashed under the stairs..

Another one from my list:

I chucked the covering away, and it acclimatised smell wise (er, not htat I have a smell) so that it does not smell so bad, and I tried to adjust the spine roll and it does not look a little better. I still have random searches now and find nothing

I imported the leather bound US version of the 50th Anniversary Edition of Lord of the Rings for my Brother in Laws 50th Birthday a few years ago, my wallet is still bleeding

Do graphic novels count? If they do I spent between £45-£50 each on vol 1 - 4 of Absolute Sandman. Very well made but so large and heavy that they are uncomfortable to read.

I bought my wife the original 1958 edition of the Ladybird Cinderella childrens book as a surprise Valentines Day present. She mentioned to me once that it was her favourite book as a child. Cost me £58 - pristine and beautifully illustrated

She did appreciate and knew I'd spent time hunting it down. She didnt have the happiest childhood so i knew that was one of her better memories

It sits on her bedside table and she reads it to my daughter sometimes
