Thanks Alan. In all honesty I've been inspired to do something by people like you creating a load of music and posting it up here. Might have to rifle through my old grooves and finish a couple more

The basics of mastering are compression / limiting and EQ. A limiter is a must to boost the levels although you have to strike a balance to retain a natural sound and avoid pumping. With the EQ it's just trial and error with a multiband EQ unit. Always compare your track to an existing track in the same genre and try to emulate the sound. You'll never get it as good because professional mastering software costs loads but you can try!

I always end up tweaking so much that I lose what the track should sound like . I find it really difficult to get that balance of eq and compression / limiting to sound good. I'll keep playing with it and watching the youtube vids. I found a pretty good (and more importantly simple) vid on youtube about mastering in FL so I have to work on some of the things highlighted in that.

so my friend has a few more tracks, this time a bit more cinematic for the first 5 (by the way he says thanks for the feedback )

The next 2 are really personal to him, hope you like them, the last one is the weakest but it was a project with friends, i like it but he doesn't so much.

I know I don't make the kind of music people around here do... lol, but after my previous 30 minute effort I thought I'd tidy things up a bit and throw in some EastWest choir sounds in the 2nd verse.

The Choir library sounds are really rather good, and I reckon alot of people would be fooled by this VST instrument.

If I had to describe this, it would be XFactor meets songs of praise.  LOL

Anyway, have listen and let me know what you think.
