right. I think i'll try one of the amplifi's, and probably also get a mate to bring an amp around for comparison.
out of interest though, where exactly is this cab/speaker sim option that I need to use?
Im probably being completly blind (and ignorant to what it actually means) but I cant see if this is an onboard setting. Or will it be on the additional effects on the app you can use with it?

the emulators are in the operating system of the Line 6 boxes...  the amplifi has a iPod / iPad app that also allows you to deep edit the Ampli's settings and do it wirelessly... that is kinda cool...

otherwise you have to use the knobs etc on the other devices...  but that shouldn't be a big deal... at least for me, back in the day everything had a physical knob, switch or slider...

this Zoom box has gotten rave reviews too...
Line 6 makes various boxes with or without amps and speakers...

Yamaha THR10 is amazing and portable and small and amazing too...  also can be used as USB audio interface and stereo etc...

Vox makes a sweet little amp too... about 80 quid which has great tone and is nice...

Right. For those interested i've made a decision, was going to get the amplifi tt, but wasnt in stock anywhere (2 weeks wait)  and cost £150, decided to go for Blackstar ID:15 TVP Guitar Combo Amplifier instead, which was £200.
I thought for the extra £50 an actual amp, which still has the same capabilities I was looking for would probably be worth trying out.
Bought it from a place I could easily return it to, within a couple weeks, just in case I end up with some horror stories about it on here?, or just dont get along with it.
Thanks again to everyone for the help and opinions!

Good choice the ID TVP is a great amp!

I tried a 30 and it blew me away how good it was, probably the best modelling amp on the market currently. Only thing I didn't like was the excessive use of noise gates, but you can configure everything on a PC and I gather it has a decent online tone library for downloading to the amp

TT only came out a month or so ago so it's not surprising it's short stock. The Id has a decent selection of fx built in.

Those Blackstars ID amps sound great, you wont be disappointed.

Can't plug it in to your car stereo though, how else can you jam out on the way to work

Played a guitar into an old tv once. The feedback was fantastic but knackered the TV's speakers pretty quick. Also played into an old stereo system. For some reason having an orange touching the exposed wires of the guitar lead helped the sound. No idea why (this was years ago when I was about 12 years old).
