One positive from the vote. We voted to leave. I've never been prouder. It was a cracking night. Footage from Remain HQ as the votes came in, Farage posting on Twitter, navel gazing from MPs and Cameron quitting.

View the thread from the night here.

The Referendum and Voting

Negative

MPs not implementing what was voted on.

"This is your decision, the government will implement what you decide."

It will be over three years on and still nothing.

The referendum way back in 2016 resulted in the electorate voting to leave the EU. Since then nothing of substance has happened, only transitory opinions and lots of talk and discussion.

With that in mind, in reality, there are no real substantial long-lasting positives or negatives. Not yet. Work-related effects apply to individuals and as Brexit has not yet happened - who knows...

There are of course the usual moans and groans from both sides and opinions regarding 'forthcoming' (or not) referendum and/or general election.

So 'effects' are currently transitory.

Positive:  It's now far easier to know which of my friends, family, and colleagues harboured closeted racist views.

Negative:  A Brexit voter threatened to put a brick through my Remain **** face.

Positive:
Brexit has increased favourable views of the EU through Europe and weakened it’s Eurosceptic movements.

Negative:
The UK is scarcely better than Trump’s America. A large part of the population has swallowed the lies fed to it by liars, rich public school boys who want to be even richer, and people acting on behalf of Vladimir Putin. A project to promote unity and cooperation has had a very large spanner thrown in it’s works, and we’re all worse off because of it.

And it’s off topic, but I’m damned if I’m going to let this bit of shameless hypocrisy slip by.

Look at the two faced weasel. Votes to leave the EU, and then scurries off to live in the EU?! Doesn’t even have the guts to live with the results of his decision.

Shame on you, coward.

Positive: The result of the referendum has energised the pro-EU side.

Negative: Key legislation and policy plans all fall foul of the all consuming Brexit.

Positive: I personally have vastly increased my knowledge base of politics in this country and the the EU but still have some way to go yet.

Negative: The referendum has shown many people blame their ills on the EU rather than Government. Austerity has hit hard in many communities but somehow this is the fault of beurocrats in Belgium according to the Daily Mail et al.

I’m not allowed to vote here

But when I am allowed to vote again I will vote against the EU as well. Problem is that a vile character was heading up the campaign there at the time.
