At least they’re both actually registered as News Channels, whereas Fox is a state propaganda entertainment channel (although Trump seems to be losing their fawning support more each day going by his tantrum tweets)

That seems to be a standard response from some here when awkward facts are presented.  I don’t watch Fox News, I have other entertainment channels available, and have no desire to watch the Trump-fest.

Why don’t you just not watch BBC news? After all, the news is just a small part of the content that the Tv licence goes towards.

I know you used a smilie here but anyone who's watched even a small amount of US news would laugh at the idea of the BBC failing miserably at being impartial.

Compared to US "news" networks the BBC is a paragon of virtue when it comes to impartiality.

Yes of course in some ways they do fail, Brexit for instance (and I'm pro remain). But overall they do a decent enough job.

So I'd give the ops idea a hard pass.

America does a great many things very well indeed.

Doing a decent job of informing and educating the American public via news is not one of them.

Ask any SNP supporter if they think the BBC in Scotland is impartial and they will laugh in your face

NPR is pretty good too. Although it has a slight left wing bias.

I guess my argument would be that commercial UK news at least attempts to maintain some form of impartiality even if it often fails.

And because of that we get higher quality news here.

To what degree is certainly up for debate though.
