Good post.

There is a void in left-of-centre politics, no political party covers that ground anymore. The Tories have drifted right and Labour have drifted left. However, having said that, there are of course many PMs and members of both parties who have political centre roots.

As far as antisemitism in the Labour Party is concerned, too many Labour PMs have resigned or voiced their deep worry that it is a major problem. Jeremy has also voiced concerns but has done very little.

The fact that you personally have not come across antisemitism in the Labour Party unfortunately does not mean much. Also, it is feasible that people hide their feelings when talking to other party members who they know don't share their antisemitism.

You are quite right in that a few AVForum members who frequent this small P&E sub-forum have right-wing tendencies, but I tend to forgive their skewed political outlook .

Wow, there are a bunch of brainwashed racists in this thread.  Jeremy Corbyn and Labour's so called anti-semitism is about as relevant as Hilliary Clinton's email server. Wake up and smell the coffee people!

Sadiq Khan could be a contender if the timing was better, and wouldn't it be hilarious to see all those butthurt snowflakes crying their salty tears .

I think Yvette Cooper needs to come back. I never liked her during the Brown govt nor in opposition under Ed Miliband, too much of a disingenuous professional party politician, but she was tough and very capable, which is really what the party/opposition needs.

Fair point regarding Sadiq, I agree he has the potential. The London mayorship is an interesting proving ground, and don't get me wrong despite being critical about him I think his potential is materially greater than Corbyn's.

Yvette does need to return, her and her funky hubby Ed. Good back up for Tom Watson.

Poor old Tom now under fire from the angry Corbynistas.

But the timing is a mess ... he has to see out his term up to 2020, and will probably run again, unless persuaded to run for a safe seat in a by-election as can't really do what Boris did (duel mandate as MP and Mayor) and also challenge or be leader in time for 2022 general election ... but anyway can't really make detailed career plans during this volatile political atmosphere when we could have an election anytime thanks to the DUP bribe.

So that's why Yvette should go for it.

Honestly, there's a lot I could say but the media is focusing on anti-semitism in the Labour party for a reason.  No mention of racism in the Conservative party at all.  And there's plenty of history to suggest that this is much more of an issue.  But, of course, no-one cares about racism or xenophobia when the darkies and the Poles or Albanians, respectively, are the target.  If they're white and English or Israeli however...!

Still, please do carry on...I'm quite amused!
