First charges filed in Trump-Russia investigation

The difference here is that this has been a blatant attempt at influencing a Presidential election, Putin likely didn't care who won.
Russia is also suspected of attempting to hack into US voting machines in certain states.
We are in an era of cyberwarfare now (key US Infrastructure is being probed by enemy states), where you don't need expensive equipment to get started. Just a bunch of skilled hackers and trolls alongside Intelligence agencies. Russia can't beat the US on a conventional battlefield, so it's moved the battle to the internet mixed in with old fashioned espionage. Basically It's the cold war reheated for the internet age.

Mueller is going after Federal Crimes, not political ones. What we are seeing here are the same tactics used to dismantle criminal organisations, start with the weakest links and then steadily build up a case against the person at the top.  How to Interpret Mueller’s Charges Against Paul Manafort

FYI - Mueller is looking at aspects of the Clinton campaign as well, not just Trumps.

Yup it's an investigation into all aspect of Russia collusion in a presidential campaign/ election and I expect Rep/dems will be held to account on this front. At least I hope so.

The most prominent Democratic lobbyist in Washington, whose brother served as campaign chairman to Hillary Clinton, has stepped down from the firm he created after being ensnared by the Russia-Trump investigation led by Robert Mueller.

Tony Podesta, who has donated millions of dollars to the Democratic party and lawmakers on Capitol Hill and worked as a link between corporate America and the Democratic establishment, has reportedly stepped down from his lobbying firm after it emerged that the US special counsel was investigating his work for a Ukrainian not-for-profit group linked to Paul Manafort.​

The administration and Trump him self really have no idea how to counter Mueller at all as he just goes about the job in hand . No show boating or wanting to be another Starr in the lime light.

LOOK AT THE DEMS . PLEASE LOOK AT THE DEMS . WH has nothing to hide according to Trump and the administration.  As such they be clean right and nothing to worry about .

Sorry , thought my post expressed that fact that Mueller is a man of action and law rather than the Starr self publisher.  Twas me point Mueller is not a man to be trifflied with.

As a member said about Trump in the now ( thank you Avforums mods ) locked thread . More appropriate for Mr Mueller than Trump .

Listen, and understand. That Mueller is out there. He can’t be bargained with. He can’t be reasoned with.  He doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And he absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are indicted .

The attacks  on Trump whilst dismissing her partners own failings says much about the state of American politics even now .  Perfect storm for a Trump president . He could of come the chimany  at crimbo  at this point  and took the kids presents as Hillary was seen as Krampus .

As much as we complain about UK politics at least we choose a party rather that a celebrity.
