There's no love lost between either Sinn Fein of Fine Gael on a policy basis, but why bring Varadkar's sexuality into it?
Sinn Fein have been one of the most vociferous parties in terms of equality for everyone, and were the party who proposed same sex marriage in N. Ireland.

It's the DUP who are against civil rights, no-one else.

They have always been at loggerheads with Fine Gael and Fianna Fáil, 2 parties that are much more to the right (well, Fine Gael are basically the Conservative party) and would never share power with Sinn Féin, I doubt if Leo Varadkar's sexuality has anything to do with it.

I have to agree, which is why I find the insinuation on tv, rather odd.  Mind you dont blame everything on the DUP, a lot of Catholics are against same sex marriage.

Have to take my hat off to the republic though.

I wouldn't take your hat off until the 8th amendment is repealed and woman can have abortions without having to travel to the UK. That'll be the next referendum I'd say. Bring it on.

I remember the bombings, the knee cappings, the murders.. I saw religion being used as en excuse for political struggle. I find it very uncomfortable what was sacrificed for peace, especially the pardoning of terrorist murderers in jail, their release and now them suing the UK government.
But, their is peace, I just hope the children and new generations rise above all the violence and get on with each other, for their sakes and the rest of the UK. I also believe no matter what the border issue will be a non issue, it will remain a free and open one.

Former IRA member jailed for decades-old barracks attack in Germany

A Northern Ireland man has been jailed for four years in Germany for his role in an IRA attack on a British Army Barracks in Osnabrueck 21 years ago.

Identified in Irish newspapers as James Corry, the Belfast-born defendant was convicted of attempted murder for his role in the attack on 28 June 1996.

Corry and at least four other accomplices parked a truck with an improvised launch battery outside British barracks in Osnabrueck, in northwestern Germany, and fired three shells - only one of which detonated.
