Additional taxes?

The bottom 60% are net recipients rather than net contributors.

How much we give the state in tax - and how much we get back

A considerable number of immigrants will be in that bottom 60% so will be costing us, rather than contributing taxes.

What additional taxes.

Absolutely.

Whilst the fastest growing sector in the UK (the humble car wash) may be providing a service to those of us that cannot be bothered to wash our own car, I can't imagine that much tax is flowing into the treasury.

Yep, that is the great progressive lie; that all the low paid immigrants are  somehow making a net contribution after taking into account the cost of their in work benefits, healthcare, education, housing etc.

That one example shows how things have changed. From the 1980's automated car wash which  replaced expensive manual labour, to 2017, where it is cheaper to employ eight people to hand wash, dry and polish.
Unlike the car wash machine, the manual workers require a full suite of state services.

Also a great example of how people are wasting their money in this time of austerity with spending money on car washes for their cars, pay TV subscriptions, fast food and ready meals, and extensive mobile computers and data networking...Just to name a few....

Absolutely.

Though, we're in times of austerity "light".  Not real austerity
