House is a five bed 3000 square foot.
Its all electric for heating and hot water with...

10kW Ground source heat pump for undefloor heating and hot water (not sure what this consumes on idle)
MVHRS constantly running (150W)
3x Fridges
Smart home kit (two panels full of stuff)
and varoius other electical items that will all add up.

Just to add though, we do create more electricity over the year than we use.
Usage is around 11000kW, solar will generate around 13000kW, currently booked in for fitment of a Tesla Powerwall2, this should reduce our export completely.

Are you counting idling as heating on then?

We're a four-bed with a family of six.  We also have a load of smart home but only one fridge.

We sit at about 800w idle. 2500sq feet 4 bed home.

Lots of smart gadgets. Single American style fridge freezer. Networking switches blah blah blah

No, just nighttime usage when in bed
GSHP will run at 4kW for 20 mins or so on top of that twice a day, sometimes three. Depends how much solar has been used for the Harvi (solar water heater).

Seems about right to me. I must admit, I do leave all kit on standby, and there are lots of it!

Okay so electric heating not really a factor in idle.

I do keep quite close eye on mine to make sure there are no crazy devices left on.

Good thing you guys have solar!

Just had a 5.3 kwp array, 9.6 kwh LI modular battery and a 3.7kw hybrid inverter installed on Oct 10th.  So far the system has yielded 172kwh with a high of 9.4 and a low of 2.3kwh with not a great deal of sunshine. With the low FIT available now the only way to make the system work financially is to reduce the amount of electricity I use, I have managed to reduce my daily pull from the grid from an average 14kwh per day to an average 3.5 kwh per day. Self consumption is around 85% at this time of year but I think that will drop in spring/summer as the system ramps up with the longer days. I'm still learning how to use this kit to it's full potential like how to use appliances when the battery is fully charged, which has happened twice when the sun shone for two and a half hours.

Can I ask how much your system cost all together. I was considering the Tesla battery but I still don’t think it is financially viable.
