Is global warming an urban myth?

I wouldn't necessarily say that it's an urban myth as much as the media and advertising companies push so much GREEN WASHING on us, that we often think that it IS a scam of sorts.

It's pretty evident that global warming exists. Are we the prime cause? Not really sure. Was it inevitable? Once again, not sure.

One thing IS for sure....I'm sick of greenwashing. I'm sick of being told what to use and what not to use in order to save our planet. I can't tell you how many times I've seen refrigerator filters sold JUST because they're green. Screw the fact that they're useful in getting rid of impurities for less money....it's green.

At least got your head to intake that it is evident.
In the last 7 years this has been the coldest winter where I live, but last summer wasn't the hottest, so what is wrong?

Things may get worse but It is not because of human, for instance all of us have learned how the earth suffered from ace ages, and so...
And then there was no man on earth just some monkeys, lol, they had no ferraris and computers and consoles, lol!

LOL, idiots.

The guy who tried to kayak 1200km to the north pole and gave up after 200km got to 81 degrees north. Even more embarrassingly, a team made it to 86 degrees north in ...1895.

I thought the North Pole was constantly shifting anyway, due to changes in the Earth's magnetic field, so quite where he went to see it is anybody's guess.  And I do believe there is some concern that it may flip so that the North Pole becomes the South Pole and vice versa.  But then if he waited for that, it would have been way closer to visit the 'North Pole', because it would just have been a quick hop to Antartica, rather than haul-arsing himself right across the planet.

Sometimes I worry about our antipodean cousins.

LOL yeah, good point. He said he wanted to see to before the ice was gone though. Poor deluded fool.

The true north pole is on the centre of axis of the Earth's rotation - 90°N. That's not going to change anytime soon.

The magnetic north pole wanders around on a daily basis and is currently about 82°N, in the Canadian arctic. It's the one they drove to on Top Gear, which is rather cheating in my book as they're about 1,000 miles apart at the moment. If you navigate using a compass, you have to allow for this discrepancy on the map.

The sun's magnetic poles flip roughly every 11 years and this is thought to be all part of the sun's activity cycle that drives our weather/climate too.

At the end of the day global warming does exist as it can be measured.  How much we have contributed/are contributing towards it is open to debate.

My view is that it will happen regardless of our actions and it is part of the natural cycle of things, however that's not to say that greenhouse gases are not contributing to things.

I also feel that it is always beneficial to look for better, less polluting and more efficient sources of energy.  I'm just not part of the whole, we must change to save the world brigade.  The world is changing and we either need to adapt or die.

I've only just seen this - thanks for making me actually s

I remember that kayaking dude...   and did notice that it all went quiet on the BBC about him without any comment of him reaching the pole.  I guess that's way - damn that ice.

I would like to remind everyone that the only expedition that I know of to prove the ice at the North Pole wasn't melting - aka Top Gear driving there in a bloody great big pick up truck - was entirely successful.

The GW fanboi's (and gurls) must find that infuriatingly ironic...

I absolutely agree with your "    "

But I was very impressed that the two of them could actually get through 6 minutes and 30 seconds of this without bursting out laughing at themselves.

Al Gore is going to make a billion dollars while bringing down the entire US economy (with President Obama's help) by adopting the failed European socialist model?

Yeah, right.

We all know its Gordon Brown's fault.  Entirely, 100%.  He faked the climate data that the CRU was using and forced a cover up.
