I did a trial with laithwaites and the wines were lovey but postage expensive and overall wine more per bottle. I just pick up decent bottles on sale at supermarkets when I see them.

It’s also difficult to beat the supermarkets when they have their 25% off when you buy six bottles offers on.

I have of late been on an expensive red wine drought.  Have avoided Borddeaux except £7-8 on special.  But on Friday the Mrs picked up a £3.99 'Bordeaux Superieur 2017' from lidls and wern't bad.  Had another bottle today and needed more breathing but after the first sip was not to bad.

I am always on the look out the the bottle of red that you say wow after 2 bottles of wine as most review seem to centre on the first glass because after that flavour and the ability to distinguish a good from bad bottle nose dives.  I and other members of family party had a couple of wow moments last christmas but even after taknig a very blurred photo couldn't make out the label was french but everyone passed out

What's your take on wine after the first bottle?  Full body, dry with plenty of oak for me, little plum or sloe to boost depth of flavour as your palette dwindles.

More than one bottle to yourself in one sitting? Not something I’ve ever done or likely too. I get a killer headache with any more than 3 glasses.

My wife buys that wine from Lidl. It's not bad at all.
