It's a good idea to buy Michael Jackson's whiskey book, gives taste advise and taste comparisons

For an alternative view of the Scottish malt whisky producers, read Raw Spirit by the late Iain Banks.

Talisker is on offer at Tesco for £25. I don't drink it myself.  Bought it as a gift.

Talisker is nice but a little sweet for my tastes. Its a good malt for a newbie though.

I'm hosting Whiskey Club this week (bunch of local lads who get together on a monthly basis for a bit of whiskey tasting and a chat) and I've bought 50cl bottle of Hibiki (Suntory) and 50cl of Ledaig - hopefully they'll both go down well?

Thread bump for what is hopefully a £22.00 Tesco bargain. Having tried and enjoyed the Jura Superstition at nearly £40.00 a bottle this is looking like a steal.

16 year old Jura Diurach's Own for 70cl.

It has good reviews but isn't being opened on a school-night!

Good call - I love all the IoJ malts, and they're often available at great prices.

The "basic" Origin is my "go-to" tipple of choice....

We managed to blag, steal and chat to the distills about 16 years ago and get the complete Islay Collection 2007 : Buy Online - The Whisky Exchange collection. That's stand and large framed map of the distills that could be seen in PH's for my OH's father birthday.
Although the hangovers are still talked about, one thing that we all know is that they were real good tasting Whiskeys.

Got a nice 25yr Macallan from a mate who doesn't drink whiskey, swapped it for a bottle of Vodka. Got a perfect 100 score from the BTI.
