Hi guys

I’ve been calorie counting using an app for a few weeks now and aiming at 1900 calories per day to aid weight loss.

I’m 6’2” and currently around 110kg so need to loose some serious weight before it makes me ill.

To aid this I’ve signed up to a gym and starting this weekend.

I’ve used a gym before but probably about 8-10 years ago.

In terms of cardio stuff I enjoy the rowing machines and the bikes:

What would be a good work our to maximise weight loss?

Thanks

No such thing as a weightloss workout. It's all about adherence. Find something you can do for months-years. If you enjoy rowing, row. If you enjoy Zumba do Zumba and so on.

Try not to cut too many calories and lots of training at the same time too. Seen so many people go crazy with 400-500 calorie deficits and then train 5 hours a week on top. It isn't sustainable for 99.9% of people.

Only going off 1900 as that's what the app suggested that I'm using. What would you recommend

I used my fitness pal to monitor my calories intake , I was eating 1500 calories a day, I was 23stone9lbs when I started and over a 12month period I lost 10.5 stone , I cycle most days now and try to eat healthy, while on my calorie controlled period I would eat back half my  calories that I burnt doing exercise according to my garmin fenix 3 .
Keep a log of what you eat ,it gets easier the longer you do it ,if you have a day where you eat way more than you should just start again the next day with no remorse , give your self 1 cheet day every so often .

I still have days days now that are cheet days and I have kept my 10.5 stones of for nearly a year now

keep at it you will feel amazing
here is a photo of me at my daughters wedding and one when I hit 14 stone

id bump it up a bit to 2200 and start from there. Then you can lower when you stall.
how old are you and what sort of job do you do?
