There's been some weird threads of late on AVF, so thought I would start one myself.

Armpit hair, yes or no?
From a health and hygiene perspective.

I've read several websites saying it needs to go as it is more hygienic.

Just a thing regrading this,

and this,

And anything else related, one factor is, "can't be bothered."

I get up, I shower, I put clean, ironed, clothes on, I shave. I have better things to do than style my hair, paint my nails or moisturise or whatever else.

My missus can't be bothered with painting her nails let alone me do it. And that's before I see no need to, and I'd probably get non stop grief from others and a long list of other reasons.

Getting rid of armpit hair is seen as being feminine. The same as shaving legs etc.

As another thing, once in Kenya I had my haircut, I took my t-shirt off as I didn't want my t-shirt covered in hair. The guy kept commenting that my back was hairy, "like a lion." I assume Kenyan males tend to not have it as he kept saying it and seemed fascinated.

So there you go, my body has been compared to a Kenyan lion. I'm fine with that.

Having a bush underarms means there’s more surface area for odour producing bacteria to cling onto so yeah it’s more hygienic to shave it all off. Been doing it for donkeys years

Hygiene?   unless you have prevented disease or promoted health it's not really relevant.

As for smelling, washing usually works...

If having hair was so unhygienic everyone would be bald.

If it wasn't meant to be there, evolution would have removed it.

Hair acts as a barrier, protecting against potentially harmful bacteria and viruses entering the body and the regular act of shaving can lead to skin irritation and damage.

According to the NHS website.

I don’t shave it close, but do clip it with a hair trimmer (without the guard). But it’s purely practical as I swim several times a week, and underarm hair just gets tangled when swimming a lot of crawl.

I certainly don’t do anywhere else - I tried it once many years ago, and got laughed out of the bedroom by the girlfriend, who said it looked like a plucked chicken and was a total turn-off!
