Yeah straps will be my next purchase when I eventually surpass my grips ability with chalk to progress with 5x5.

I appreciate there are other exercises to build grip strength, but I'd rather do this as much as possible as part of the 5x5 training before the need to find another solution to the increasing weight.

I'm guessing there will also come a point that I'll need a belt as well, but I'm also going to try and get as far as I can without one, so I don't rely on one.

I love Elliot's videos and I've been subscribed to him for a while. He has a lot of options on a lot of different subjects, but usually makes a lot of sense!

He also recommends Stronglifts 5x5 and has talked about it in a video some time ago.

Haha me neither! I had to Google skull crushers the other day, as that's an add-on exercise
Turns out, I do the Yates row

I struggled to do it that way, but touching the weight to the floor, as I'm not on the big plates her for it, which puts more strain on my lower back, as I have to go lower. I lift out the same way, but it never touches the floor until I've finished the set.

I also can't go as low as him on my squats due to my left thigh, it just won't have it

If your not on the big plates yet, just put two plates flat under each side to lift them up, that's what I did.

Check out this video for getting lower on squats, it's done wonders for me:

Just keep pulling, your grip will get stronger as you do which is what it's all about.

I can do pendlay row with good form but problem is I've never made any progress, stalled too sooner on row than others. As this is stronglift thread, I guessed most are doing pendlay and surprised to read others are struggling on bench rather than on row (also almost same weights). Maybe it's just me having more strength on push than on pull. I always thought BP will be heavier than Rows due to having advantage of back support.

So, a quick question.. Where/how do you guys rest the bar when doing squats?
There is a pad that goes round the barbell at my gym and that lets some protection and cushioning but I don't have one at my work gym so I wrap a hand towel around it but the top of my spine is bruised and sore..
I was thinking about resting lower, on my traps but I'm not sure if that is right or even possible for me....?
