Thanks all.

Didn't get an iron man in the end, instead it was a 40 minute stretch of 3 minutes on, 3 minutes off. The gym was packed though with no air at all so it was tough going.

Worth it in the end!

Not really.

We had a 1 hour seminar going through some techniques, then we split into 2 groups.  White belts on one side of the mats, everyone else on the other.

For about 40 minutes we did 3 minute rounds.  All the white belts paired up and rolled, then on the buzzer we cleared off and the other group rolled for 3 minutes, rinse and repeat until they called time.

Then the boss handed out belts to those nominated by their own coaches.  Roughly a dozen new blues, half a dozen purples, 4 brown and a black.

In a sick masochistic kind of way I was disappointed not to go through an iron man. On the other hand with the severe heat even the session we did have was tough.

Also a few of the other white belt guys I rolled with and tapped during the session also got their blue belt so I feel like my level is where it should be.

Next step purple...

Congrats on getting your blue Phil, well done.
Just keep turning up and training. don't be one of the many who saw blue as their goal and quit

No chance.

I heard recently that 70% of BJJ practitioners quit after blue. Of those who remain, only 7% quit after purple.
