I've just had word back and yeah, they're saying disc brakes not permitted. I've replied asking why...

Gutted for you on the news as really upsets the head when can not use the planned equipment (having a similar issue but not such a big change with my rear wheel).
On the plus side it is the best excuse for a nice new shiny bike!!!!!

Thankfully, a kind soul has offered me a loan of a bike - it may be better than my own bike in the end!!

Hassle I could do without, I bet I'm not the only one who's unaware of the rule too.

Just done my last training session before the race on Sunday (30 min run at a steady pace).
For those interested this is what my training for IMW has looked like:

Swim: 320.4km (123h)
Bike:   4,580km (183h) (57km of elevation gain)
Run:   1,154km (100h) (13.3km of elevation gain)

So now just need to put all that training into practice on Sunday.

you've more swimming, less biking and similar running done to what i did for IM Copenhagen

all the work is done now, relax, enjoy the week, and especially the race, and cross the line with a smile no matter what happens.

best of luck, enjoy every minute

Went well thanks. Finished in 11h 50mins, 1:05 for swim, 6:24 bike and 4:02 on run. T1 was 12mins but that does include a 1km run up a cliff and through town.
The weather could not have been better with a flattish sea, not much wind on the bike and a bit of cloud cover too. Just managed to finish in the light too.
The run was the hardest I have ever done with 500m of climb over the course. The support however was fantastic with people all around the course on both bike a swim. The national anthem on the beach before the swim was also pretty epic.
So I beat my target of 12 to 13 hours so was very chuffed on the day. The swim and bike went better than expected but run did not quite go to plan (hoped for 1 hour for first 2 laps and then hopefully speed up, in the end was around an hour for each lap) but still a good time.
Nutrition and hydration seemed to go well too.
In terms of aching etc., my quads are stiff and sore but rest of me is pretty good. I am also now looking at the times and thinking how I could shave time off the different elements!!!!!!
I will not be back in 2017 but will not rule out another outing down Tenby at some point in the future (despite telling myself 'never again' on the second lap of the run!!!!!).

That's a cracking time! Was there supporting a friend (who DNFd last year too). As always, an incredible atmosphere. It didn't make me want to sign up though!

Always a danger going to support, getting carried away and signing up for next year!!!! Glad you avoided that insanity. The support down there is simply awesome.
