If you go to a Chinese takeaway that does not use MSG, you can watch cook the food and they don't use a lot of oil, can it be healthy?

People often say all Chinese food is unhealthy, but I don't think that is fair to say.

If you ordered a plain chow mein for example, and they use the tiniest amount of oil, bean sprouts, noodles, soy sauce and onion... with no MSG, Can that be considered healthy?

Do you consider some Chinese food to be healthy? Do you eat Chinese food?

How often do you see overweight chinese people, it cant be that unhealthy.

Minus msg and salt its probably one of the more healthy cuisines i can think of.

Nothing wrong with MSG.   Chinese and Japanese add it to everything.  I think all the health risks are pure Daily Mail hysteria.

maybe - but that doesn't mean skinny people can't be unhealthy too...

The westernised version of take away chinese food is not particularly healthy in some respects but proper chinese food cooked properly is very healthy. In its essence it is rice, meat and veg cooked in minimal oil etc., nothing unhealthy about that if you eat the correct portion size etc.

Chinese people generally don't eat what is served up in a Chinese takeaway.

Indeed, i guess we need to draw the distinction between takeaway and actual chinese cuisine. 99 percent of takeaways obviously aren't healthy, but then i wouldnt expect anyone to eat it with the regularity where that would matter

I would these days. So many people have a takeaway multiple times a week and then we wonder why there's an obesity problem on the horizon

There is if you're allergic to it   I had a couple of bad reactions years ago before realising what the problem was.  I enjoy Chinese now though, infrequently and at a good restaurant, and don't ever feel I've eaten unhealthily.  But I wouldn't touch it from most takeaways.
