Fair enough lads, I agree its not quite 100% but its near enough for me and has already motivated me enough to push on a bit more than before. My only gripe is its not completely waterfproof as it would have been nice if I could wear it in the pool. Other than that I`m pretty happy and expect (hope) they keep improving it over time.

@RedAl

I think they are great to get people moving, dont get me wrong.  My wife has a fitbit zip which is as basic as they come but it has inspired her to to walk more which is great.

The big picture is these things could be on another level in a few years.  As a Personal Trainer this is something I could buy and lend/rent to my clients which would allow me to see if they have been active or skipped a few sessions and so on.  It won't be everyone's cup of tea, but some people would respond very well to it.

Even bigger picture is wearable tech can be used to monitor our overall health and allow doctors to make quicker, more accurate diagnosis.

They could also help reduce health or life insurance costs and lots more.

Totally agree. I wish there was some scheme by the government to subsidise people`s gym memberships providing they go regularly. It would surely save  masses on NHS costs anyway.

I agree with you but it would be better if it was accurate as advertised.  As a percentage the margins of error are quite large at times.

How are you finding the battery life?  I have restarted mine, drained it then a full charge and now 1 day later it is showing just under half charged.

Like you the 5 days claim is rather optimistic, I`d say about 3-4 depending on usage. I use the silent alarm as its far better than my noisy phone alarm. I suspect that silent alarm uses a bit of the battery too. Even so, its so fast to charge up that its not really an issue. Its hard to say whether the heart rate is accurate or not as I don't have any other way of comparing it. I`m on beta blockers for migraines and they lower my heart rate plus I go to the gym 5 days a week and have a pretty low resting heart rate normally. I think I¬d need to be chased by a baying mob with machetes for my heart rate to go above 90! lol

Just put it on today.  It arrived the morning I flew off to the USA for work so didn't want to take it with me.

How do I add friends etc?  I'd like to have challenges with fellow users.

I was waiting for the JawBone Up3 for this very reason.  It can track swimming but it doesn't sync over bluetooth with your phone.  It uses the phono socket!

Certain employers discount or give away fitness devices for this reason.  Fit and healthy employees means less days off sick.

Mine definitely lasts 4-5 days before I need to charge it.

Does anyone else have issues with the stairs count? I'm not really sure how it works out you are going up/down stairs, iit generally seems way off.

I think it classes about ten steps up or down as a flight of stairs
