I think the closest thing to a flight sim coming to a PS3 is IL2  which is due out next year. It's a WWII game but focus's on simulation which I've heard they'll be keeping a priority for the console version and you'll be able to use a joystick .
check it out.

There's a Linux download for this (FlightGear Flight Simulator) - be interesting to see if it would run on a PS3 running Linux...?

It works on Ubuntu on my laptop, and I'm putting YDL on my PS3 today (fingers crossed). It would be fantastic if it worked!

Short answer = no

Realistic flight simulation is and always will the realm of pc gamers!

It would be nice if the ac series came back to ps3 at some point.

Thanks for this info, Paul27, I'll keep my eyes wide open for when this game is going to be released for ps3.
My son likes to play "the red baron" on his ps2, so he (and I) will certainly love this IL2 stuff

Or £60,000 for your CPL but flying Boeing 737 is worth it. Its like just playing with your PS3 for work but just cost £50 million plus!

In the US, it's about $20 K additional for the commercial certificate (single-engine land), another $10-15 K to upgrade that to a multi-engine commercial ticket, at least $20 K for an instrument rating, and probably another $5 K to upgrade to a single/multi commercial ticket with instrument privileges. Of course, no one is going to feel comfortable with you flying a B-737 with just a commercial license, so be prepared to spend another year or so, not to mention about $30 K, going after an Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) license. And, to top it all off, certain high-performance piston aircraft and all turbine (turboprop and jet) aircraft require type certification - meaning you need a type certificate for a B-737, one for a B-757, an A-319, an A-320, etc., etc, etc.
