Just looked, back to £39.99. Not sure if it was a limited deal or because I didn't have a sub with them at the time. It was a first year sub. Had been using a 12 month card from somewhere else previously.

mines expiring soon. i can see an offer on the xbox, £26.50 for a 12 month subscription
dont think i'm going to get better than that anywhere
looks like it will try set it as auto renew when i do it this way so i'll have to turn that off

I get mine on eBay.  Normally some reasonable deals on there.  As others have said, the days of really cheap XBL gold memberships are gone I think.

I know it's more expensive in the long run but i buy mine 3 monthly via digital download codes on Amazon uk .
Nomally theres a deal for £13 and occasionally you can get a bonus £5 store credit  (xbox store) thrown in .
You get a few reviews complaining that the codes don't work etc but thats because people don't know what they are doing and don't read the instructions on redeeming properly.
Providing you input the code manually via redeem code on the store it will work.
There is an option to auto redeem via a linked xbox account and this is how people who don't know what they are doing lose their money , if you click ' redeem now ' and theres no linked account then try again manually it will see the code as invalid and already used.
If you already have an Amazon account you will be asked to re-enter your payment card details before purchase , this is normal and it's an extra security check done for all digital products purchased via Amazon.
