Huawei P30 Pro Review & Comments

I personally like the camera of the Huawei P30. Not to mention the badass battery life! I've been using it to take my blog photos, and I never felt the need to use a DSLR. For me, the camera quality surpasses that of Samsung and Apple, and it's also really durable.

It's a great phone, no doubt about it.  I've never understood the complaints about the EMUI interface, it works fine for me, I've even stopped using the app drawer and have moved to gesture control instead of the traditional 3 Android icons to navigate.

Camera is excellent, yes someone will beat it eventually, but that doesn't means it stops being great!  The 5x optical and 10x hybrid zooms are brilliant, they happily take care of the only remaining reason to have a compact digital camera to hand.

It'll be interesting to see how the Mate 30 Pro improves on it.  A faster chip set and larger screen?  But I'd be surprised if the camera side of things changes much.

I am considering a new phone and this seems to tick all the boxes. I will be coming from an iPhone 7 Plus. I want to use a gimbal for video recording and due to the ois on the 7 plus cant use it and instead still carry a 6s to record video. Could anyone with the phone let me know if it has eis or ois and if it’s eis can it be disabled?

Got one of these coming on Monday.

I’m doing my usual 6-9 months shift between iOS and Android. This time coming from an iPhone XS.

I had, and really enjoyed using, the P20 Pro, so if this is effectively an improved version of that, I should be happy enough.

I was tempted to try the p30 pro, but then found out it hasn't got stereo speakers. I'm use the stereo speakers on my xs max a lot.

How do you think this compares to the Mate 20 Pro?  I notice the screen resolution of the P30 Pro is lower than the Mate 20 Pro, weird.

However one of my biggest concern is Huawei getting all this current bad press and android dropping them from their beta programme.  Should this be a concern when concidering buying one of their phones?

It’s not on the iPhone XS/XS max, the best speakers I’ve ever heard on a phone. Yes it’s not going to sound like your home Stereo system, but as far as phones go it’s very good!
