How to stop phone calls from the USA

A friend of my wife  has the same phone as me and he told her he keeps getting calls from the USA at all times including the middle of the night.Is it possible to stop calls from the USA.I have looked at the settings on my phone and all I see is call blocking.You can block a number but you then get a call from a different number as I suppose his number is sold on.The Phone is a Samsung Galaxy J3.

Yes you can put a block on the number but I believe his phone number has probably been passed on numerous times so lots maybe hundreds of people have his number and that number will probably bigger.

Short of changing your number not sure what to suggest.
Think I'd block each number as they come through

Not tried it but I think this should work.
On Pie, Phone/settings/block numbers/add phone number.
If you enter " 1" and hit the add icon, that should block all numbers with that prefix.  1 will also block other countries stating with  1xxx..

I have just found the following   open phone app then settings then more settings then call barring then voice call and make sure international calls are not ticked if it is untick it.Have told my wife and she will pass it on to her friend.Fingers crossed it will work.Will put result on here when I get it.Thanks for all the replies.

There's a similar setting in Pie but isn't that setting just to prevent the phone from making outgoing calls to international numbers?
