Hi all,

Trying to find an insurer that will cover a phone that I have recently bought from a reseller.

I have a receipt and it includes a 6 month warranty but I can only find insurers that state it needs to be refurbished and purchased from the network or manufacturer which it is not.

Can anyone recommend an insurer that will cover my phone?

Won't your house insurance cover it?

Don't want to use home insurance for any small claims as not worth the increased premiums.

Some bank accounts have mobile phone insurance included, mine has with Natwest.
The thing I have found though is that gadget and mobile phone insurances can have high excess payments which means it can be better to claim on my contents insurance.

I did my first (ever!) phone claim 2 years ago through NatWest, they had a £75 excess at the time, but they've changed it now to £100. I then did a claim a year later for my partner's phone through my contents insurance, the excess was £50 and the insurance renewal quote I just got through is only £12 higher than last year so £1 a month.
Only you can decided high likely it is that you'd need to claim, but claiming on home insurance generally doesn't impact premiums as much as people expect it to and as most people never actually need to make a claim it's not worth them buying an extra policy for covering something that's already covered elsewhere.

I had to invoke my bank account insurance for my iPhone X when it was stolen. All they want is a statement from the network provider that demonstrates it was linked to you and an active account that was used.

They were good actually as technically the replacement should have exceeded their £1000 limit. I guess the replacements costs them less as it came in a typical apple replacement packaging. Anyway that is just a side note to the above.

I invoked my bank insurance not my home insurance. Apologies if I gave you the wrong idea.
