Mahler's 5th symphony played by the Bayerische Rundfunks Symphony Orchestra conducted by Rafael Kubelik on a near perfect original DGG recording.

Kit as below.  Since getting the Ortofon cartridge I have to listen to everything again.

Laid Back (1996) is good too, whilst I've just ordered Life Changes (2004) which sounds good apart from one vocal track in the middle.

Just listening to a compilation of favourite trumpet and flugelhorn led jazz tracks specifically, as I write, Polina by Hugh Masekela from Dave Grusin's Migration (1989), made even better by a superb rhythm section comprising Omar Hakim on drums and Marcus Miller on bass.

The Rippingtons ~ Topaz (1999).  Written and recorded when Russ Freeman was living up in Colorado and very different from most of the band's feistier outings (of which my favourite remains Curves Ahead from 1991), but it's very nice.  Jeff Kashiwa wasn't a member of the band at this time, though Paul Taylor plays soprano sax on a couple of tracks.

Special EFX/Chieli Minucci ~ Butterfly (2001).  Just one of many great albums from the creative pen of Mr Minucci (though I'm not yet quite convinced about Without You).

Dave Grusin ~ Mountain Dance (1981).  A magical little album, recorded direct to two track digital using the Soundstream recorder.  The rhythm section of Marcus Miller and Harvey Mason is, of course, a huge asset.
